Explain GOD?

Why do we want to explain GOD? Is this our desire to control? I mean, who wants to serve an explainable GOD? GOD should be beyond anything I could think or imagine. GOD is GOD! That is the only explanation needed… What are your thoughts on this?

I'm not sure, but I'll share some rambling thoughts. My first thought was that I'm not sure there is not something that God instills within us that causes us to want to understand Him.

Andrew asks some interesting "Why?" questions and many times, I tell him, "Why do you like vanilla ice cream?" I always follow up with making the point that some things are the way they are. I'm sure there is some chemical explanation that causes one person's chemistry/DNA to prefer chocolate over vanilla and vice versa, but who knows.

I also think that pride could be an issue. When we are able to "explain" something, in a sense we have conquered it. Satan can deceive us into thinking that we understand God.

God's too big for me to explain, but that doesn't mean I don't want to know him better.
